Overview

The PM8375 CTS 4x4G Evaluation Kit (PM2347-KIT) allows evaluation of the PM8375 CTS 4x4G device with SFP MSA compliant 4G/2G/1G Fibre Channel optical transceivers, and HSSDC and HSSDC2 connectors. In addition, this kit allows for signal integrity measurements via SMA coaxial connectors. For signal integrity and eye diagram measurements, users may use the kit in conjunction with external test equipment. The built-in data generator and checker of the PM8375 CTS 4x4G may also be used. The kit consists of five circuit boards: an Evaluation Card that provides a SFP socket, HSSDC, and HSSDC2 connectors; a SMA to FCI Adapter Card; a Backplane Simulator Card; a HSSDC to SMA Adapter Card; and a HSSDC2 to SMA Adapter Card. A Windows-based GUI provides access to all hardware functions and status information.

  • Status and mode indicators for the PM8375 CTS 4x4G

EVALUATION CARD

The evaluation card connects to a Host PC Card via a USB interface, with power provided from an external power supply.

This card contains the PM8375 CTS 4x4G port bypass controller device, a USB microcontroller, clock circuitry, SMA connectors, HSSDC and HSSDC2 connectors (signal routing selection between HSSDC and HSSDC2 is done via different stuffing options), and a SFP transceiver socket.

The approximate dimensions of the evaluation card are 18 cm by 16.5 cm.

SMA TO FCI ADAPTER CARD

This card consist of six pairs of SMAs and a FCI Metral 4000 female connector. It is designed to mate with the FCI Metral 4000 male connector on the Backplane Simulator Card and provides a way to verify signal integrity when high-speed serial signals are passed through various trace lengths and through FCI Metral 4000 receptacle/plug connectors. FR4 trace lengths of 10", 15", and 20" are provided on this card.

The approximate dimensions of the evaluation card are 10 cm by 5 cm.

BACKPLANE SIMULATOR CARD

This card consist of six pairs of SMAs and a FCI Metral 4000 male connector. It is designed to mate with the FCI Metral 4000 female connector on the SMA To FCI Adapter Card and provides a way to verify signal integrity when high-speed serial signals are passed through various trace lengths and through FCI Metral 4000 receptacle/plug connectors. FR4 trace lengths of 10", 15", and 20" are provided on this card.

The approximate dimensions of the evaluation card are 10 cm by 7.5 cm.

HSSDC TO SMA ADAPTER CARD

This card consists of two pairs of SMAs and a HSSDC female connector. It is designed to interface to a standard FC HSSDC cable, and provides interface to the differential signals that are routed to the HSSDC connector.

The approximate dimensions of the evaluation card are 7.5 cm by 6 cm.

HSSDC2 TO SMA ADAPTER CARD

This card consist of two pairs of SMAs and a HSSDC2 female connector. It is designed to interface to a standard FC HSSDC2 cable, and provides interface to the differential signals that are routed to the HSSDC2 connector.

The approximate dimensions of the evaluation card are 6 cm by 5 cm.

    • Personal computer with available USB Port and running on Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating system
