Features

The PAS6201 is a gigabit Ethernet Optical Network Unit (ONU) system on a chip dedicated for use in an Ethernet Passive Optical Network (IEEE802.ah EPON). The PAS6201 integrates the Ethernet Media Access Control (MAC) functionality, EPON protocol management, and advanced classification engine and an embedded CPU. An integrated software package provides a complete ONU solution. The PAS6201 ONU device is shipping in volume today.
PMC-Sierra gigabit PON devices are based on the GigaPASS™ FTTH architecture that incorporates a gigabit PON to gigabit Ethernet interconnect with wire-speed packet processing and a programmable 32-bit RISC platform. The GigaPASS architecture is a powerful technical foundation on which to build high-speed, high-performance PON network devices.
