Features
OVERVIEW
The MSP7160 residential fiber access gateway device combines the Multi-Service 7100 Series architecture with PMC's proven GPON WAN interface for low-cost, high performance GPON FTTH CPE gateways. The MSP7160 complements the MSP7100 Series of Multi-Service Processors with a key set of interfaces, and critically, it shares the common architecture and shared software.
The MSP7160 device addresses carrier service delivery needs by simultaneously providing superior datapath performance, application processing, and robust voice processing, in a cost/performance efficient implementation. The MSP7160's high-performance multithreaded 7100 Series core includes the ability to flexibly allocate resources between these diverse processing requirements, and provide dynamic multifunction guarantees. The gateway designs supported by the MSP7160 enable a service-grade digital home with the gigabit boost required for IPTV.
This new breed of RG processor ensures simultaneous functionality for voice, video, and data, resulting in broadband service guarantees. The MSP7160's superior packet processing and quality of service (QoS) performance with advanced remote management capabilities addresses evolving digital home-use cases, and provides carriers the ability to control in-home service distribution which is essential for a high-value consumer experience. This powerful engine provides the necessary performance and connectivity for service revenue-generating broadband portals.
The MSP7160 supports integrated GPON serdes, two 10/100/1000 GE MACs, dual USB2.0 interfaces, and has a DDR2 memory interface. The MSP7160 includes a Linux software development kit (SDK), with voice processing and GPON management modules.
