Features

GENERAL

The MSP7130, a member of PMC-Sierra's MSP7100 Series of multiservice processors, is a Residential Gateway SoC designed to meet the performance, QoS, remote management, and security needs of multiservice residential gateways.

Turning the Telco and ISP visions of the digital home into reality and meeting IP service revenue goals requires a new, higher-performing class of residential gateway that provides home network QoS, manageability, and security. This new breed of residential gateway ensures simultaneous functionality and quality of voice, video, and data services delivered using the home network. The MSP7130 provides the packet processing performance and advanced remote management and diagnostic functionalities needed to reach and surpass these immediate goals. The MSP7130 has sufficient processing headroom to support evolving IP service definitions while servicing video data rates.

The MSP7100 Series is supported by a powerful software development kit (SDK) and comes with production-ready software components including the PMC Fast Data-Path high-performance networking stack, PMC VPM VoIP firmware suite, and a management framework that allows for easy integration of management agents. The SDK enables customers to quickly and easily design high-performance, featurerich VoIP-enabled communication equipment for use within the customer premise.

A key element of the SDK is the PMC Fast Data-Path. This software is designed specifically for the QoS requirements of triple-play RGs and supports complete TR-098 data models required for comprehensive TR-069 remote manageability. For more detail on the software development environment, refer to the MSP7100 Series SDK Product Brief.

Software

The MSP7130-PGI is supported by a Linux software development kit (7100 Series RG SDK). The SDK enables designers to quickly and easily build high-performance, feature-rich gateways.

The SDK includes a voice processing module (VPM) VoIP firmware suite.

The MSP7130-PGI and SDK are supported by standard tools from industry leading vendors as well as by GNU development tools (compiler, debugger, EJTAG support, etc.). PMC leverages open source SMP Linux and OpenWRT based software to provide flexible and easy customizations to meet the growing complexity of today's residential gateway requirements.

For more details about the software development environment, refer to the MSP7100 Series SDK Product Brief.
