Product Overview
The 10G EPON Evaluation Kit is a complete reference design for
10 Gbit/s, IEEE 802.3av-compliant, EPON Optical Line Terminals
(OLT) and Optical Network Units (ONU).
The evaluation kit includes the PAS8001 10G Optical Line Terminal
(OLT) and the PAS9001 10G Optical Network Unit (ONU).
Both FPGA based units feature 10G Media Access Control (MAC)
functions, pre-standard IEEE 802.3av (draft 1.1) compliant
protocol management capabilities, and PMC-Sierra's 1G legacy
classification and VLAN capabilities. The PAS8001 also includes a
10G Core Network Interface (CNI).
The 10G EPON Evaluation Kit combines reference designs for both
the PAS8001 for 10G OLTs and the PAS9001 for 10G ONUs, to
integrate all the functionality required from an OLT and ONU
running at 10 Gbit/s. The kit includes third party commercial transceivers
and a complete software development kit (SDK), leveraging
PMC-Sierra's market-leading EPON capabilities to improve
system performance and reduce OEM time to market.
