Single-Chip CPRI Solution Enables 3G Wireless Base Station Distributed Architectures

Baseband to Radio Interface Controller (BRIC™) Family Enables Standards-Based Remote Radio Head (RRH) Network Topologies

PMC-Sierra’s PM7830 BRIC-6 and PM7832 BRIC-2, 6-port and 2-port termination devices, fully support the Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI) specification for wireless base station interconnect. The interface solutions make it possible for OEMs and ODMs to offer all defined RRH network topologies with a standard digital interconnect for distributed base station systems.

The PM7832 BRIC-2 and PM7830 BRIC-6 will be available in early Q2 2006 and Q3 2006, respectively. MORE

Digital Predistortion Engine Enables Carriers to Meet FCC Requirements for WiMAX

PMC-Sierra’s industry-leading PM7800 PALADIN® 10 and PM7815 PALADIN 15 devices have successfully demonstrated compliance to the rigorous Federal Communications Commission (FCC) 04-258 WiMAX requirements.  These solutions leverage PMC-Sierra’s industry-standard wireless Digital Predistortion (DPD) technology and its high frequency mixed signal design capabilities to enable products for the emerging WiMAX wireless standard.

“We are impressed with the performance of PMC-Sierra’s PALADIN and its ability to handle WiMAX signals and deliver positive results,” said David Runton, Manager of RF Systems Engineering at Freescale.  “PMC’s firmware-based DPD algorithm is powerful and flexible enough to handle the challenging WiMAX requirements, while providing designers an off-the-shelf solution.”

The PM7800 PALADIN 10 and PM7815 PALADIN 15 are available now. MORE
