|
 Brian Holden
|
WHAT TO EXPECT This webinar will:
| |
provide an overview of processor bus
technology |
| |
introduce the general aspects of a
processor bus, which include packetization, split
transactions, tokenizaton, ordering rules, error
handling, configuration and maintenance
|
| |
introduce throughput, latency and
concurrency considerations |
| |
compare processor busses with classical
packet oriented busses and |
| |
describe some hybrid bus features
|
Specific bus types including common older
standards such as ISA, EISA, PCI and PCI-X, and newer
standards such as HyperTransport, PCI Express and RIO
will be discussed. Example implementations will be
presented to better illustrate the form and function of
the newer buses.

PMC-Sierra's maxSAS Product Family and Adaptec
SAS Controllers Enable OEMs to Build High Capacity, Low
Cost Storage Systems with SAS and SATA Disk
Drives
PMC-Sierra announced an end-to-end Serial Attached
SCSI (SAS) architectural solution for network attached
and server attached tiered storage applications. PMC-Sierra
unveiled its maxSAS
product family with the latest additions including
the highest density 36 and 24 port SAS expanders, the
PM8387
SXP 36x3G and PM8388
SXP 24x3G, and an innovative storage enclosure management
processor, the PM8389
SMC-L. The PMC-Sierra maxSAS product family, combined
with either the Adaptec AIC-9410 SAS controller or ASC-48300
SAS host bus adapter, provides storage equipment manufacturers
with a complete end-to-end storage systems solution
using either SAS or SATA hard disk drives. This fully
interoperable and standards-compliant architecture offers
system integrators a time-to-market advantage with reduced
hardware and software development and a lower bill of
material cost.

Ten Port Non-blocking VT/TU/STS/AU Cross-connect
fabric with Message Assisted Protection
Switching
The PMC-Sierra PM5389
WSE 20 implements a strictly non-blocking, any-casting,
multi-mode switch with hardware based APS processing for SONET/VT
and SDH/TU signals. As a memory switch, each egress stream
can be formed from any combination of ingress VT/TU/STS/AU.
A 25G any-cast, non-blocking Wideband switch fabric can be
constructed from a single WSE 20 device. Operating in conjunction
with the PM5370 WSE 40, the WSE 20 can be used to efficiently
implement the first and third stages of a high capacity multi-stage
switch. The WSE 20 interfaces seamlessly with the PM5369 TUPP
9953 and provides scalable, cost-effective VT/TU grooming
solutions for Add-Drop Multiplexers (ADM), Digital Cross-connect
