GPON FTTH Broadband Access Products

PMC-Sierra, through its acquisition of Passave, has announced plans to develop ITU-T G.984 standard-compliant GPON devices for central office and CPE equipment.

PMC-Sierra GPON devices will utilize the field-proven GigaPASS™ architecture to integrate a 2.5/1.25 Gbps PON-to-Ethernet interconnect with full wire-speed packet processing and an OEM-programmable 32-bit RISC platform with real-time operating systems, middleware and customizable application-specific firmware. The GigaPASS architecture is a powerful technical foundation on which to build high-speed, high-performance PON network devices. It is the foundation of PMC-Sierra's high volume EPON devices.

ITU-T G.984 Standard Compliant

PMC-Sierra GPON devices will conform fully to the FSAN GPON standard.

GPON OLT Devices for Central Office Equipment

PAS5211 GPON OLT

The PAS5211 will provide an FSAN compliant 2.5/1.25Gbps System on Chip (SOC) solution for GPON networks. Compliant with ITU-T G.984 standards, the device will integrate a GPON MAC, an advanced classification engine, and an embedded management CPU to deliver full gigabit line rate operation to up to 64 ONTs.

GPON ONT Devices for Customer Premise Equipment

PAS6211 GPON ONT

The PAS6211 will enable a fully FSAN compliant ITU-T G.984 solution with guaranteed 2.5 Gbps downstream/1.25 Gbps upstream line rate operation. In tandem with the PAS6201 ONT SoC, the ONT will include a GPON MAC, packet processor, embedded SERDES and an ARM9 processor for ONT management and VoIP signaling. A complete ONT software suite compatible with multiple operating systems will be provided along with development tools to allow extensions to the base software for application flexibility.

Gigabit PON Burst Receiver for C0 and OLT Transceiver

PAS7351 / PAS7361 GPON Burst Receiver

The PAS7351 and the PAS7361 create a Gigabit PON Optical Line Terminal (OLT) optical burst receiver dedicated for use in Gigabit Passive Optical Network (ITU-T G.984 GPON) transceivers. The PAS7351 provides the burst-mode Trans-Impedance Amplifier (TIA) function and the PAS7361 provides the burst-mode Limiting Amplifier (LIA) function.
