The GigaPASS™ FTTH Architecture

The GigaPASS architecture is a field-proven FTTH product architecture that integrates three high-performance functional platforms in a single chip device. The GigaPASS architecture integrates a bi-directional gigabit/second PON to Gigabit Ethernet channel; a multi-stage packet protocol processing engine that processes the data flowing in the channel at wire speeds; and a programmable embedded 32-bit processor with operating system, middleware and application specific firmware that provides robust FTTH terminal feature sets and is field programmable by the service provider. This architecture is field-proven in PMC-Sierra devices already deployed in Asia and can be flexibly adapted to support both current EPON and GPON technology standards and future FTTH standards.
